Hi guys!

Firstly let me congratulate a couple of our clubs on some fantastic results over the last week:
Womens Netball 1s who won the Scottish Unis Championship for the first time since 1981
Trampoline who won 4 medals at the first SSS League Competition of the year. Special congratulations go to Laurie Dobson for winning gold in the Novice Ladies category

Not too many messages this week, as always please pass on this information to your committee - there are important actions every club needs to take under numbers 2 and 6.

1)  President’s Message from China
Good afternoon fellow Saints Sportians!

I just wanted to give a final last word to y'all before leaving what has been an exciting and closely fought World Champs in China...

I should arrive back in office on Monday afternoon, and thereafter will be back to business as usual. I would like to say a massive thank you to the great team we have this year sitting on the AU Exec, in appreciation of the hard work they have all put in in my absence.

For all those competing in the BUCS Champs and Trophy next week, best of luck! For all of you sticking around for reading week, be sure to head down to the Sports Centre on Wednesday 9th for some quality sporting action!

Right, best get back to my pre-games preparations, and YouTube pump up videos - penultimate game this afternoon versus Portugal and providing all goes well, a play-off for 5th place on Saturday!

With Saints Sport love,

2)  Club Development Meetings
All clubs can now sign up for their Club Development Meetings with Rona via the link below. Meetings will take place between Monday 14thand Wednesday 23rd November, and will last 20-30 minutes. Please sign up for one time slot which your Club Captain/President (and any other committee/coaches you wish) are able to attend. Sign up for slots is on a first come – first served basis, if you have exceptional circumstances which mean you cannot attend any of the available times please email to make alternative arrangements.
Here is the sign up link:

3)  Club Excellence
The Club Excellence workshop on week 9 (Mon 21st Nov) has now been changed from Fundraising and Sponsorship to Equality and Diversity.

4)  Funding available - Knowing Sport Public Engagement Programme

Knowing Sport is the public engagement programme that forms part of the International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport 2012 (ICSEMIS 2012), supported by the Scottish Government and Podium. We are seeking events that will engage the public with science, medicine and research conducted in and around sport, and inspired by the London 2012 Games.

Applications are invited from further education colleges, higher education institutions, science centres, science festivals and community groups in conjunction with community planning partnerships. Selected institutions will be allocated a grant of up to a maximum of £2,012 to develop and co-brand a public event or a series of events between October 2011 and September 2012.

5)  (Free) Physio Service for Home Fixtures
Bernie Li from the newly formed START(St Andrews Rehabilitation Services) clinic provides a free Physio service during Wednesday and Saturday afternoon fixtures (1.00-4.00pm). This service predominantly offers pitchside assistance for injuries that occur during games (indoor and outdoor), but can also provide strapping for those players that require this before matches. In addition, if you have a niggling injury and need a 2minute diagnosis on whether you should train or play this can be done.  Although the service is free, if you require a significant amount of strapping there may be a small charge for tape (couple of pounds).

Bernie is based at the Sports Centre and from 1.00-2.30pm will be available for strapping/diagnosing. From then on Bernie will be on pitchside. If you need to contact Bernie in an emergency you can either call his mobile (07900555005) or you can contact Reception and they will contact Bernie via Walkie Talkie.

6)  BUCS Regulations
Please make sure your captains are aware of the BUCS regulations for your sport. Details can be found here.

7)  Alumni Newsletter
Our Alumni Officer is currently in the process of organising an Alumni Newsletter to go out towards the end of semester. He is looking for clubs to write about their achievements so far this year. If you have had a good start to the year and are interested in gaining some club publicity amongst our alumni then please email James:

That's all for now, Andrew will be back on Monday afternoon so you will be back to getting Thursday Bulletins from him from now on. Have a great week and good luck with fixtures!
