I hope you have had a wonderful break. Its been great to see the Sports Centre getting busier over the last week, and we can't wait for Semester 2 to get underway.
There's a lot of information to kick off the semester with:
Please read the attached document from BUCS and SSS regarding team lines. It is also important to make sure that you are aware of the rules regarding playing up and playing down, which can be found at http://www.bucs.org.uk/page.asp?section=17288§ionTitle=REG+6+Individual+Eligibility+and+Team+Selection
There is still time to enter a team into the SSS Superstars competition in Stirling on Wednesday 28th January. We have a Saints Sport Staff team entered and it would be great to have some company. Full details can be found at http://www.scottishstudentsport.com/events.asp?s=2&id=SUS-V12000 and entries close on Friday 23rd January
If you have drivers registered for tests, make sure they come in to the AU office before the test to register. UK drivers need to bring both parts of their licence.
We're very excited that work on the redevelopment has started at the Sports Centre. The car park will be closing in the next week or so and moving to a smaller, temporary car park at the back of the building. Please be aware that parking will be limited so don't drive unless absolutely necessary.
Student Athlete Survey:
We have received a request for participation in the following survey. Please circulate to your members:
This semester we are launching a monthly video competition, giving you the opportunity to win a contribution towards a camera for your club. Guidelines and more details will be released soon but keep it in mind if you are training or competing.
Club Captains Forum:
Advanced notice that the first Club Captains Forum of Semester 2 will take place in week 2.
BUCS Sport Internship:
This is a fantastic opportunity for anybody looking to work in sport in the future, which allows the successful candidate to get wide-ranging experience across Sports Event Management, Sports Development, Marketing & Sponsorship and International Sport during the course of the one year Internship. You also establish great contacts across the sport and University sectors, alongside business links with the likes of Deloitte.
All the information you need is available here: http://www.bucs.org.uk/vacancies.asp?itemid=16540&itemTitle=BUCS+Internship+2015%2D16+%281+year+fixed+term%29§ion=14576§ionTitle=Jobs
Our tender for a new kit supplier is now live. Please be aware that there should be no contact between potential companies and Saints Sport during this process, so if you are approached by a company please do not engage. Once the tenders are in we will arrange an opportunity for you to come in and look at the suppliers being considered and give us your thoughts.
Due to the redevelopment of Venue 1 at the Union, Sinners is going to look a little different this semester. The first Sinners will take place in the main bar on Wednesday 28th January, with a limited capacity of 500. In the interest of fairness, wristbands (£2) will be sold at the Union Reception from 9pm on the night on a first come first served basis. You may only buy one wristband per person. Keep an eye out for some exciting news about Sinners for the rest of the semester!
That's all for this week. Enjoy the rest of the break, and I look forward to seeing you all back in the Bubble soon.
