1) Membership lists
Please make sure you have all shared your membership lists with Catriona (firstname.lastname@example.org). Your membership lists need to be up to date by the end of next week (Friday 5th October) so please get chasing those members which haven't paid yet.
2) Driving Tests
We have been doing our best to get as many tests arranged for you all as possible. We have one free spot on 1st October, a few on 4th and another day now arranged for 9th October, which is currently completely free. Please come into the AU office with both parts of your license if you want to sign up for any of these.
3) Hire Cars
Arnold Clark keys should be picked up from the sports centre as usual. However here's the change.. you then need to go down to New Hall car park to pick up the car, and remember to still check it over. When you return the car after the hire you must also take the car back to New Hall and then return the keys to the sports centre. This is only temporary until the car park is back in full use.
4) Sports Centre & Pitches Booking Cancellations
You must cancel your club's booking if you can't make it for some reason or another - any bookings not cancelled will incur a £25 fine. Apologies about this but with demand for facilities so high we really must make the most of all available time slots. Here's the link for the cancellations form:
5) External club members
Please note that you must also have informed Catriona (email@example.com) by next Friday (5th October) of the number of external members that your club has wishing to join (if you have any) - that includes both staff and community members. These requests will then be considered by the Athletic Union Exec and we'll decide whether these individuals can take part in club training and/or matches. A Sports centre 'Club membership' fee, an Athletic Union joining fee and your own specific club's membership fee will then be due - this will be communicated more clearly via a specific email should permission be granted.
6) Sports Matrix
Please make sure you submit the first submission of your club matrix (see last week's bulletin for the attachment) by the end of this weekend - Sunday 30th September. This is compulsory for all clubs. Remember that the information that we need in the first instance is largely retrospective and based on your performance and activities over the last couple of years.
7) Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteers are now being sought to assist the Sports Support Programme which is designed to assist people in implementing sport/exercise into their day-to-day life as a way to manage particular problems they may be experiencing or to gain an increased sense of personal well-being. Over the past few years the programme has been an effective resource for people who might be having trouble socially, are feeling a bit homesick, have difficulties with mild anxiety or depressive symptoms or people just feeling like they need to add some structure to their lives. Volunteers typically get referrals from Student Services and immediately begin liaising with fellow students to set up a time to meet and get to know one another, find out what the person referred would like to explore in relation to the Sports Centre and set up a time for a first session. Full training and support will be provided for all volunteers.
If you are interested in getting involved with this programme please complete the attached application and you can either e-mail it to Matt Stillman at firstname.lastname@example.org or drop it by Student Services (FAO Matt Stillman) which is located on the first floor of the Student Union. If you have any questions please e-mail Matt at email@example.com. Interviews for this programme will be conducted by the second or third week of October.
