I hope you're well and have had a wonderful summer! With pre-season training just over a week away and Freshers' Week starting in two weeks or so we thought it was about time we started to get our weekly emails back out to you. Please have a read of the following information and make sure that it gets distributed to the right committee members and to club members where relevant.
1. Captains Meeting
A Club Captain/President meeting will take place on Monday 10th September at 6pm in School I of St Salvator's Quad. Please note that this meeting is compulsory for all clubs. Should your Club Captain or President not be able to attend then please send your next most relevant committee member.
2, Club Excellence
This year the Club Excellence Programme will run from Monday 10th to Tuesday 18th September in Schools I and II of St Salvator’s Quad. The programme is attached with details of what each session will cover and a recommendation of who should attend each session. Be aware this is only a recommendation (apart from the Club Captain's meeting), each club may send whoever they feel is most appropriate for each session but every club must be represented at each session in order to achieve the Club Excellence stamp. There will be further sessions arranged for later in the year and clubs will be supported through individual club development meetings over the course of each semester. Any questions should be directed to Student Sport Development Manager Pete Burgon at email@example.com.
3, Pre-Season Training
- Alison (firstname.lastname@example.org)
is still waiting on eight clubs to return their forms detailing numbers coming to pre-season and t-shirt sizes. If you haven't sent this in then please do this asap!
- It's also important that you have contacted Karen (email@example.com
) to submit the coaching paperwork detailing hours and contact/payment details for your coach - your coaches get paid separately for pre-season training than for the rest of the year so it's important that this is done.
- Please also make sure that you've put your transport bookings in for pre-season.
- If you could also please pass on the invite to your specific club coaches for the pre-season social on Friday 7th September that would be appreciated. This will be taking place in the Union, with food being served from 7.30-9pm (with a few speeches at approx 8.15pm).
Eric has received transport application forms from the majority of clubs but is still waiting on a few. If you haven't submitted yours yet then please do so as soon as possible. The deadline for these is 1st September and the forms need to be sent to Eric at firstname.lastname@example.org
Over the next couple of weeks we're going to have a big push on promoting Saints Sport activities in Freshers' Week to new students and will be directing them to the Club directory page on the Saints Sport website. Please make sure you take the time to update your website with the correct committee members for next year and their contact details, as well as highlighting recent news and exciting upcoming events to get people interested in your club.
6. Sports Fayre
The Sports Fayre will take place on Saturday 15th September from 11am-5pm. Clubs need to be at the sports centre at 10am to set up their stand. The exact hall plans will be made for this in the next couple of weeks and communicated to you all then.
Sport Tayside and Fife are delivering an extensive programme of CPD opportunities for coaches of UKCC Level 2 or equivalent standard over the course of the coming academic year. If your club has a coach at this level, or with aspirations to reach this level and beyond, please encourage them to send a brief CV to the Student Sport Development Manager on email@example.com as soon as possible so they can be nominated for the programme. Please use the same e-mail address for any questions you (or your coach) may have. I'm looking forward to seeing you all back in St Andrews soon! Best, Emily -- Emily Griffiths
